Sunsets

As always, the best part of going to the Gulf in Florida are the sunsets!

My little goofball at sunset:

As usual, he couldn't stay out of the water.

Going...

Going...

Going...

Gone.

Me and my baby :)

Fischer and Auntie.

Another sunset with a storm rolling in.

Some good pics with my sister's fancy camera:

Manatee

On Wednesday of our beach trip, someone told us about this little inlet/lagoon where some of the manatee live, so we went out to see them. There were at least 4 of them swimming around the boats here.

As soon as we got back to our condo, we noticed a commotion going on in the water. Turns out that 9 manatee (8 males, 1 female) were swimming up and down the beach in about waste deep water.

The game warden quickly showed up to keep people away from the manatee...some people were following them and trying to touch them. They let people stay close and watch, just not get too close and touch.

After everyone settled down, I got out in the water to watch them swim by.

Here's how close they were to us:

Finally the males were able to tire out the female, where they beached to try and mate with her. By this point, four people from the local marine lab and the beach police showed up. They still let us stay close and take pictures.

The manatee stayed all day...here they are at sunset.

Beach Fun - Part 2

Fischer telling me, "Go swim in the ocean."

The best picture of the week:

Jumping the waves with Nana and Papa.

Popsicle on the beach...yummy!

He would make us fill up his buckets with water, then he would use them to refill his watering can. He wouldn't go fill it up in the ocean himself.

It takes a lot of concentration to pour water!

Another yummy popsicle...and checking out his sandy feet (he made me bring him a bucket to rinse them in!)

More fun with the boogie board.

I took him for a walk at sunset, with Papa fishing in the background, but once again all he would do is swim. I guess his name fits him perfectly!

Pool and Beach Play - Part 1

Eating by the pool always makes the food taste better!

Fischer liked to swim in the "hot pool" as he called it :)

But his favorite was the "cool pool."

Papa got him a dump truck...Fischer mostly filled it with water and rocks (he didn't care about sea shells at all. He just wanted rocks).

Practicing.

One of the few times he played with the sand...he much preferred the water.

Papa trying to get him interested in building a sandcastle...it didn't work :)

Splashing in the water was much more fun!

Fischer also learned how to ride a "biggie board"...videos of this to come later.

Fishing with Fischer

Here's some great pictures of my dad fishing at sunset:

Papa and Nana took Fischer to the peer to use his new rod (while Auntie and Mama went shopping!)

You can see why Fischer had to wear his life jacket the whole time! (He kept mixing up the words "life jacket" and "back pack" by calling it his "back packet")

Yay! Fischer caught a little bait fish! (can you see it hanging on the line?)

Taking a snack break.

Papa's turn.

Papa's fish is a little bit bigger :)

The end of a fun morning.

Florida...Before the Beach

We took lots of pictures on this trip, so there will be lots of posts in the next few days/weeks...so keep coming back to look!

He kept saying, "I see it!" when looking through the binoculars. He called them, "My -noculars."

He liked putting the hose in his mouth until it filled up.

Blowing bubbles.

Swimming in the community pool at Auntie's house.

He kept saying, "Wook, I'm fwoating!"

Playing in the box at Great-Granny's house.

He insisted on wearing his "face" in the car to the beach :)
