A Week of Firsts

This has been a big week of "firsts" for Fischer. On Monday the very tip of his first tooth poked through! We don't think Fischer is too excited though...he's quite cranky about it. Also on Monday, Fischer went swimming for the first time. He absolutely loved it! The only thing he didn't like was getting water up his nose. The last "first" this week was that he started eating baby cereal before bed. He has been watching us eat for about 2 months now, and the past few nights has been waking up hungry at about 5:15 (he usually sleeps until 7:00). The very first spoonful went right into his mouth and was swallowed! He knew to open his mouth when the spoon was coming...and he didn't spit out much of it at all! He even got impatient when I took too long between a few bites. He's getting big so fast!

He LOVED the water!!
He liked to jump in head first after his toys (I held him, of course)!

5 months old!!!

As usual, I can't believe time has gone by so quickly. Fischer is still doing new things every day. He can almost sit up by himself (he has the strength, but not the balance), he easily grabs toys now, he knows his name, and he is trying to crawl (very unsuccessfully!). His crawling right now consists of pushing with his feet while laying on his face...the face scoot. Then he looks up at you as if to say, "Did I make it?" He gets really frustrated when he doesn't make it to his goal...but he's learning! Below you will see how his daddy is trying to teach him to play video games, how he likes to read books, and he got his first kiss from a girl in his Sunday School class named Annabelle (at Olive Garden - how romantic!)

This month was highlighted with a big trip to Texas...and Fischer's first flight! He did very well; no crying at all. We could see the looks on people's faces when we got on the plane with a baby, but by the end of the trip, they were all trying to play with him because he will smile at anyone! (he loves the ladies). Texas was a lot of fun...Fischer got to see all his relatives on Dustin's side of the family and some of our friends from college. Here are some pictures from the trip:

The 4th Month

The past month has marked so many changes in Fischer that we can hardly believe it's the same baby! He can now take toys from our hands (though rather clumsily), he smiles and laughs at himself in the mirror, he rolls over both ways, he loves to blow rasberries with his tongue, and he constantly looks at the world with wide-eyed wonder. His 4 month doctor visit was another "A" with growth and development. He is now 16 lbs 4 oz and 25 1/2 inches long. This may seem big to some, but for his length, he is perfect. Here are some other things Fischer has done this month:

I like to hold my head up to see my toys or the TV!
I like to play with my friend Nolan who is 6 wks older than me!
I like to sit in my bumbo seat and watch Tigger bounce and sing!
I like to play with the fish and kick the ball on my gym!
My favorite song is the COPS theme song (Bad Boys)...mommy recorded it for me to watch over and over!
I got an excersaucer from a friend and I love to play with the record player on it!
I can now sleep without a swaddle!
I can sit in my high chair and play while mommy cooks dinner or washes dishes!
I like to play "Where's the Baby!" (although my favorite game is Peek-A-Boo)
Do you see the family resemblance?
I went to my first church picnic and loved the big oak trees!

Happy Easter!!

This was my first Easter service...and my last time in big church for a while (I'm headed to nursery)...I stayed awake the whole time and wanted to play!
My very first Easter basket. It had a card, some toys, and the only treat I am allowed to have...formula!!

The 3rd Month

Friday, March 21st marks Fischer's 3 month birthday! He is getting so big and still doing new things almost every day. He can now hold some toys, he smiles and laughs a lot, and he loves his blanket. We cannot get him to take a pacifier and he won't suck his thumb, but he squeals in delight when a soft blanket is rubbed on his cheek! (I guess we won't have any habits to break later on...lucky us!).

His two favorite things are still pooping and having his poopy diaper changed. He laughs when he hears the velcro being undone on the diaper because he knows what's coming next! Dustin also discovered that he loves the Beatles. When he's really fussy, Dustin takes him into the office and turns Beatles music on real loud, then makes the computer screen show the colors that Media Player will do...Fischer is entranced everytime!

He is an odd baby in that he HATES his swing and his carseat. In the swing he does what I call "mad baby": he shakes his balled-up fists in the air, holds his breath until his face turns red, and growls really loud! He will not sit in his travel system (the carseat attached to the stroller)...he has to be sitting up in the stroller to see everything...even though he can barely hold his head up! Dustin says he's an adult trapped in a baby's body. I agree :)
